By working in Hyspas 'Auberge du clou' 1899
Erik Satie got close relationship to the so-called "light" entertain-ment. For a while he was better known by his many compositions for Cabaret than by his 'serious' works. Here he includes, however, the music of the 'Cafe-Concert '. It is "one of the most personal and most advanced character istics of his work." By the way at that time also compositions as Gymnopedies or Gnossi-ennes were estimated as 'easy' music and were also very in vogue on the 'Neogrec'. (Wehmeyer, 2005, S.31ff.)

There is an often quoted letter from Satie to his brother Conrad (14 March 1899), in which he complained of the good time he lost earning money through "works of great meanness,
... It's old Hyspa I've been accompanying during several evening performances. Your suit and fine old shirts have allowed me this little game."

"Dear Old fatties,
I come to you tomorrow
Tuesday (...) We will chat both and laugh one after another, silently;
afterwards I even leave with nice memories of days gone by. " (Satie to Hyspa, 09/28/2003)
In the background a collage can be heard, which combines 3 interpretations of Satie's chanson "Je te veux"(1900): recording from the twenties + Frauke Aulbert (Hamburg, Oct.2010) + Alisa Gitsba (Moskau, Dec.2010).
